Entrecard and Spottt

You may notice on the right of this blog I have added two non-profit widgets to help bring in some traffic to this website.

The widgets are Entrecard and Spottt. These two widgets were not apart of my marketing strategy but some other bloggers were mentioning the amounts of traffic they were getting. I was intrigued so I signed up! I am starting to see a  surge of traffic from Entrecard. Not from Spottt yet because they need to approve this website.

Unfortunately the traffic from Entrecard is questionable. My statistics are showing very low readership and time spent on the website but that is besides the point. I am getting “free” traffic and even if any of those visitors convert it is worth it. Plus I earn credits which I can use to get an advertisements on websites like JohnChow and ProBlogger.

Like you, I just recently signed up at both Entrecard, as well as Spott. To date, Entrecard has provided a nice boost in traffic stats, but only a small number of stickies. So far as Spott goes, it’s a little early to tell, as my Spott ad has only been shown 133 times, with 0 click through so far. Once it has shown 1000 times, we’ll see what kind of clicks it generates, but if this is any kind of indication, I’m not sure that it will be a permanent feature on my blog.

Part of the problem with Spott is one of relevant ads. A quick look at the Spotts on my blog (via refreshing the page) showed 1 related to the theme of t-e (Internet Marketing), and two wallpaper sites. If that is the sort of thing that my ad is running into on other sites (irrelevance), it stands to reason that my click through rate will not be good, in which case I have better uses for that space.

    Cheers, Marc

I have not looked at Spottt’s performance yet, but I have realized that they do not show relevant advertisements. Let me know if you come up with another a solution.

Granted, the traffic I have been receiving from Entrecard isn’t the greatest, but it’s traffic. I have to say that I have had more comments and feed subscribers since I have signed up than I did in the 3 months prior. Checking out the other blogs also gives me inspiration to write.
