I can only achieve my goal if you achieve yours!

Thursday, June 5th, 2008

I am getting back in the swing of things here. I have several goals to achieve by the end of June which are:

  • Have 3,000 Friends on Facebook
  • Have 1,000 Friends join The Social Millionaire Group

This month I am already about half way on all of these goals and some other goals I have set for myself.

One of my other goals was to re-write the sales letter on The Social Millionaire’s Buy Keywords page to give actual proof that my system is generating visitors, sales and leads to those who have been brave enough to spend $5 to try out my advertising system.

One point I make in the new sales letter is:

I can only achieve my goal if you achieve yours!

This is extremely powerful and motivating for me! To achieve my goal of a million dollars I need to make sure all of my customers are happy and seeing a return on their investment. If they see a return in the investment they will most likely re-invest into the system.

Two bruised eyes

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

I do not really have a lot to say tonight so I thought I would show you a picture of what a Rhinoseptoplasty does to your face :)

Hopefully it doesn’t scare you away!

To perform a rhinoseptoplasty they place you under a general anesthetic. While you are unconscious they break the septum (cartilage in the middle of the nose) and reposition it so it is straight. This helps correct a deviated septum, which is what I had, which made it hard for me to breath. This could have caused more problems like sleep apnea and deprivation of oxygen if it was not corrected.

Recovering has not been bad at all. I have no pain except on my front teeth and upper gums which still is not that painful. My biggest issue is I can’t taste food cause my nose is completely blocked at the moment.

Imagine over Easter weekend not being able to taste anything. That has been my only pain… not being able to enjoy food.

Money isn’t everything!

Monday, March 24th, 2008

Not sure how many of you checked out the interview for MomsCashBlog but I said one sentence that was enough for me to consider never posting the video.

“Ever since I was a kid I have tried to figure out ways to make money…”

Other than the grammar mistakes, this one sentence makes me appear like a money hungry machine. This is not the impression I want to give off and this thought has been running through my head the last couple of days.

I love internet startups, everything about them. As you are aware I have many ideas for some great startup companies. The ideal scenario would be for these companies to explode and make myself and the employees filthy rich.

Then what?

Travel anywhere in the world? Buy anything life desires? Start a hedge fund? Once people get to the financial freedom they desire or finally reach retirement they often do not know what they would do with their spare time.

I overheard a gentleman who worked 35 years as a mechanic and was finally retiring but decided he should still work part-time to keep busy. I don’t think this is the ideal retirement scenario. I really do not know what I would do but I am sure it would be along the lines of helping the next generations of entrepreneurs and philanthropy work.

I truly believe in making donations to help others. This can only do good for society as a whole if donated to the right organizations. I have donated to a couple of organizations in 2008 and will always continue to do so as I make it apart of my routine.

Everyone should do this! Set aside $100 each month to an organization you feel would better the world. If you are already thinking wow $100 seems like a lot, I bet after a few months you would not even notice its missing. You will adapt to the loss or if you are self-employed it might motivate you to work a little extra harder to get that money back.

Anyway that is my thoughts for tonight. Hopefully it is not too preachy. This is just the sort of stuff my brain spits out after thinking about an issue for a few days.

Rhinoseptoplasty

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

That’s a mouthful!

Tomorrow I will be undergoing a pretty minor surgery on my nose called Rhinoseptoplasty. Sounds like I have a rhinoceros horn they need to fix :P

Actually my nose was injured a few years back and did not heal properly. In just the past 8 months one side of my nose has been completely blocked off. At first I thought it was just a minor inconvenience that did not really need to be fixed but then found out it could lead to other problems like Sleep Apnea and lack of oxygen which can cause a series of problems.

Luckily this procedure will hopefully fix all of that!

With that said I will be undergoing a general anesthetic so will not be able to blog on this website for at least 2-3 days. But do not worry I do have some marketing stuff in place to be launched on the 20th and 21st. So hopefully when I get back I will see a whole bunch of sales.

Wish me luck!

P.S. - I hit the $2,000 mark today and now have 300+ friends (I kept forgetting to include Twitter in my total)

Highest Converting Reviews

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

From the beginning of this website I have been purchasing reviews from websites. To date they have been from Jonathan Volk, John Cow and John Chow.

Everyone of those websites has brought visitors, sales and left everyone  thinking - “I should buy a review from those websites”. I have never seen a blog post results from a review so I thought I would be a first.

Top Converting Reviews:
1. John Cow - 3.46%
2. John Chow - 3.06%
3. Jonathan Volk - 2.97%

But - what amazed me the most was when I included the viral effect. The viral effect is what I describe as other blogs picking up on the story and writing about it.

Top Converting Viral Effect Reviews:
1. Jonathan Volk
2. John Cow
3. John Chow

Interesting stuff!

These reviews are not even my top converting source but I thought I would share these results with you.

To SEO or Not to SEO

Monday, March 17th, 2008

Ok - I have been reading a lot of comments on a lot of the blogs and even message boards about The Social Millionaire. I am seeing the same thing over and over again!

Google will block his website so fast.
It’s just another link directory which offers no value.

First off - I am not here to build my website to Google’s terms. They take people’s content without their permission, make it search friendly, monetize it and then tell me to change my website to make their searching easier? I do not think so Larry and Sergery.

Many of you do not know that I have actually been making money online as an internet marketer for a couple of years now. I have never relied on SEO. I realize the foundation and potential SEO provides but there are so many other ways I could be seeing a return on investment now rather than later.

These methods eventually will help your SEO over time. That is why I find it pointless to focus on SEO. Just get out there and do what ever it takes to get your name to the masses and eventually over time the SEO will build up. Some of the methods I use are: article marketing, guest blogging, social media and press.

Once you are out there hopefully some bloggers will pick up on your message and create a post around it linking to your website. Eventually you are letting other people do your SEO for you!

But this is not really why I wanted to write this post!

I want to explain the value of The Social Millionaire. When anyone visits this website for the first time they will see a huge list of keywords. Naturally you would think they would click on a random keyword and maybe visit the advertisers website resulting in some sort of conversion.

I am no psychology expert but already from my stats I can see something interesting. The term “affiliate marketing” has actualy had the most visits and delivered the most clicks. It makes sense - all of the blogs I have been mentioned in are all related to making money online. If my visitors have been thinking about Dog Training they will more likely see that keyword rather then all of the other keywords in the cloud and likely end up becoming a very good prospect for any dog training book or service.

Once this website becomes more mainstream more general keywords will start to have the most traffic. I imagine keywords like Facebook, Ringtones, Business, Celebrities, Gossip, News and other keywords will be the most popular.

These are all the reasons why I feel my website provides value! If you disagree or agree feel free to leave it the comments and I will reply.

Droppped Spottt

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

I finally thought someone finally created the ultimate free traffic link exchange. Boy was I wrong!

Droppped Spottt The eye candy Spottt website has a cute adorable puppy that no webmaster could ignore until you bring it home and it starts barking viciously at you!

What exactly do I mean? Everyday I would log into this blog to see how things were going and to my horror Spottt would be running completely irrelevant banners. Then it clicked - if my website is showing irrelevant banners then my banner must be appearing on a completely irrelevant websites generating very low clicks.

So I dashed over to my Spottt account and to my horror found that I had 7 measly clicks for the over 10,000 page views I have generated for them. I do not even want to take the time to figure out the click-through rate on that but I know it ain’t gonna look pretty.

Part of this blog’s purpose is to show the readers what does and does not work in terms of bringing quality traffic. At this point Spottt does not bring any traffic let alone quality traffic. But - who knows this could always change!

Until then Spottt is in the dog house!

Moo?

Sunday, March 9th, 2008

When a cow moos what kind of effect does it have?

Well it produces about $55 in sales, 12 comments on my blog, three other blogs writing a similar blog post and and over 22 new friends.

This was the work of John Cow and his latest review of The Social Millionaire.

To be honest I am amazed at the review! It was well written and gave some ideas on how I would like future reviewers to engage their audience with their review. Although I did not see a full return on investment in terms of dollars; I did however earn it in knowledge and other metrics.

One thing I learned came from a blog post today about ‘Getting The Most Out Of Your Review’. While I did share a link on Facebook, stumbled and dugg my review I felt I should have spent more time driving traffic to his article through my existing clients. I still can and will promote traffic to his review just to get more eyeballs on his website and my website. Isn’t this social web traffic a wonderful thing?

Web 2.0, Making The World a Better Place?

Thursday, March 6th, 2008

This blogging job is a lot harder than I thought so I give props to John Chow, Shoe Money and Michael Arrington who make it look so easy!

While I was running tonight I was trying to think of an interesting blog topic. This is what I came up with: Web 2.0, Making The World a Better Place?

Early entrepreneurs were involved in creating businesses that could create profits right away. Entrepreneurs like K. C. Irving and Sam Walton knew they had to create a business where there would be some return in investment quickly. Most people would agree this is the foundation of business, start a company that can make you lots of money.

When the internet first was born entrepreneurs were trying to gage how they could bring existing bricks and mortar companies to the online world. This created some of the most valuable internet companies like Amazon and eBay. Then came along a company called Google. They did not have any real plans of monetizing their service but they knew money would help them create a central place for the worlds information.

Investors and Venture Capitalists now realize how big of behemoth Google has become after their IPO. Investors try to focus on these services that have no real current monetization model in the hopes they eventually find one.

Investors do not want to miss out on another Google hence why Facebook is so highly valued and easily got funding. They are having current troubles monetizing though.

This began the real Web 2.o funding as I call it. Build a service that tailors to people then find a way to monetize it. Be people-centric not money-centric. Unfortunately a lot of entrepreneurs have problems monetizing their service once they have become popular with the ease of viral marketing in the Web 2.0 world.

Since the web is all about being people-centric now with no censorship (except in China and Australia) people can see the media in an unbiased or really biased opinion. They are now able to engage in comments and give their thoughts about news or articles. It has enabled Wikipedia to have some of the most updated Wikis on anything and monitored by anyone. So when your university professor tells you not to use Wikipedia for that reason be sure to mention to him that before Wikipedia anyone could write a book and have anyone from a publishing company read it and publish it. Don’t you think having millions of people reading and reviewing does a much better job? This in my opinion is why Web 2.0 helps make the world a better place.

The companies who will really cash out in the next 5 to 10 years are the ones who have spent the last 5 to 10 years acquiring a huge amount of users. Companies like Google, Microsoft and Yahoo are among them, as the world embraces Web 3.0 (semantic web) and OpenID.

Now services will be built around OpenID and the privacy of the users will rest in these big companies hands.

You may agree or disagree with my post but I would love to hear your points so please comment.

Stuck in an elevator!

Saturday, March 1st, 2008

It was about two weeks ago I was talking with a friend riding in an elevator. I told him how I thought being stuck in an elevator would probably be one of my biggest fears. I mean honestly stuck in a small enclosed area for an undetermined amount of time. I am not claustrophobic either, I just think it would really suck.

Of course Murphy’s Law had to kick in while I was riding the elevator yesterday. The damn elevator stopped while I was riding the elevator by myself. The worse part of it was their is no emergency phone in the elevator and I thought everyone already left the building I was in since it was in the evening and my cell phone was almost dead. Eventually someone realized I was in the elevator and called the fire department and they were able to pry the door open and get me out. I was stuck in between two floors so I had to take a big step up.

Anyway this really relates to nothing about this website but I thought I would share it anyway :D

Sorry to disappoint those looking for a metaphor for “stuck in an elevator”.
